Moroccan Decorative AND Moroccan Puzzle Box or Magic Puzzle Boxes as they are sometimes called are crafted from rare wood of the Thuya tree. Thuya wood is found primarily in the coastal town of Essaouira and is exclusive to Morocco. Due to Thuya wood's limited supply Moroccan Decorative and Puzzle Boxes are only made in small quantities. The wood, carved from the root of the Thuya tree has unique markings displaying beautiful burls and a strong aroma or scent.
While Moroccan Decorative Boxes AND Puzzle Boxes are unique and collectible, they can and most do have imperfections. The wood itself may exhibit knotholes and small cracks in various portions of the box which leads to the charm of the Moroccan puzzle box. Very common are small gaps in the bottom slides which, when moved correctly, allow the exposure of a hidden key! As your box is handled, a lemon oil can be used to bring new life to your box's finish.
Although Moroccan boxes do not have the precision of the typical Japanese Puzzle Box, it is a fantastic addition to collectors. Those that love the intrigue and challenge to solve the equation of Puzzle Boxes must add one of these treasures to their collection!
